Matchday 1: The party in Poznan started early in the afternoon. We arrived on the square about 3pm and already both sets of supporters had set up camp at either end. The chanting and songs were pretty much unrelenting. The Croat end being more agressive and intimidating while the Irish end was more witty and cheerful. The funniest being the adaptations to Stand up for the boys in Green, as in “One shoe for the Boys in Green”, while shaking one shoe in the air. It got drunker and crazier and then we went to the game.
